We are all here because we chose to be advocates of equality and quality education for every Filipino child.
Seeing some of you teach for the past 7 days makes me miss being in the classroom. I hope you learned from my feedbacks because I did learn from my observations of each of you-- as a novice teacher and as a person.
There is nothing to prove but love. Love for teaching, for children and hope for this nation.
Each of us wants to save every child. But that's just not possible. What we can do is to teach to learn from one another because we can't be with them forever. That's why, we are required to leave our mark.
The community we want to build should start amongst us. Let us create a positive circle of influence for one another because we are on this together.
It may take a little while to adjust to individual difference but if we always remember that it's not about us, it's for something greater than us, I know we can all work smoothly.
As you step out of the fantasy stage of teaching and enter the survival stage, find your mantra.
I've collected some mantra from some of you:
It is better to be feared than to be loved.
Try everything once.
Live in the moment.
This too, shall pass.
It is necessary to have one especially at times when you are about to give up. Coz once you step in to your placement schools, you are all on your own. I look forward to your stories in the classroom-funny, successful, failure, disappointment and realizations of why you teach. In those stories, each of us will look back and remember our why.
